Hello Droolers!

Do you love food?  So do we!  And we enjoy exploring all of the cuisine available in and around the Coastal Bend.  It seems new restaurants and dining opportunities continue to pop up all around us and we look forward to each new experience.
But we only care about one thing.
We don't care if it's $5 or $500. We don't care what the bathroom looks like, or even if there is one. We don't care if the server is knowledgeable or rude. We don't care about the decor, plates, or lack thereof. We only care about one thing.
When it hits your palate, does it blow your mouth up? Does it make your jaw drop until you realize that the food is spilling out? Does it make you close your eyes for a moment? When it does, you'll know. And all of the dishes on this blog will make you drool.
Welcome to Drooldish!

Huevos Locos Omelette and Hawaiian French Toast | Atomic Omelette

We wandered into Atomic Omelette one Friday morning at the suggestion of a fellow drooler.  It smelled amazing!

We chose the Huevos Locos Omelette and the eggs look amazing. The edge of the omelette makes a perfect curve to match the plate. Tortillas strips are perfectly perched. Potatoes and peppers look crispy and browned, and the toast is upright between the potatoes and fruit.  You bite into this dish and you are hit with how fluffy and buttery those eggs are!  CLEARLY cooked in butter and amazing in your mouth.  The Serrano is cooked right into the egg and it is topped with a delicious salsa that is made in-house.  Great depth of flavors with the beans and chorizo, too!

One thing we really loved about this omelette is that wasn’t overpowered with cheese.  We opted for the Monterrey Jack cheese and they added just the right amount – the flavor and texture conveyed, but you still had all the textures and flavors of the omelette and its ingredients without any of it being greasy.

SO good!!!

We also had the Hawaiian French Toast and it was sweet, crunchy, and delicious.  We’re not really into sweets, but we couldn’t stop devouring that French toast.  We did not use syrup, as the dish was very sweet.  Excellent with a hot cup of coffee!  And paired well with bacon, as the salt helped cut the sweetness between bites.  We’ve never had French toast prepared this way anywhere else… it was crunchy on the outside, buttery, sweet, and soft on the inside.

Incredible breakfast!

Been there?  Tell us what you had!  We're thinking the other dishes might be just as awesome...

Com Bi | Vietnam

The Com Bi is unexpectedly mild at first bite, but the flavors develop as you go.  You begin to realize that smoky char on the sliced pork and you enjoy the texture of the shredded pork.  The green onions bring a necessary freshness to the dish, while the perfectly cook egg on top provides a delightful sauce.  This dish was brought to life with a splash of soy and a dash of salt.

It was accompanied by a delicate salad that was set perfectly with cilantro.  A light dressing was provided with a good and subtle use of fish sauce.  Very fresh and the perfect way to balance the dish.

We have to give the Panko breaded shrimp (appetizer) an honorable mention – nothing more to say but, “Dude… those are good!”

We have a long list of places to try, so keep checking in or follow us on Facebook!  Remember, only the truly awesome dishes will make the blog!  We will not lead you astray ;)

Oh, and we've got a chef interview coming soon... stay tuned - it's going to ROCK!

B&J’s Pizza is a Corpus Christi legacy, having been in business since the 1970s.  You know they have to be doing something right to maintain a thriving business for decades! Well, we visited their restaurant in the Habeeb shopping center and WOW!  Seriously great pizza!  Hand tossed dough, fresh vegetables, and fresh herbs and spices!

We wanted to try more than one pizza, so we got a half Jack special and half garden pizza. A light, crispy bottom was the ideal base for this dish.  The perfectly cooked vegetables were super fresh and the pizza was not greasy anywhere.  It had just the right amount of cheese and just the right amount of sauce. The balance of flavors and textures was perfect – truly a perfect pizza!

We also had the garlic wings... DELISH!  Fresh chopped garlic in abundance... yummmmmm...

Check out their WEBSITE and follow them on FACEBOOK!  More importantly, if you haven’t given this pizza a try yet, head on over!

Grant and Lori moved to Corpus Christi in 2012 and have been exploring the available cuisine ever since.  Because dining out is something they love to do together, Grant had an idea for a food blog of all the best foods in Corpus.  If you have suggestions for something they simply MUST try, use the "Make a Suggestion" page or Facebook page!
