Hello Droolers!

Do you love food?  So do we!  And we enjoy exploring all of the cuisine available in and around the Coastal Bend.  It seems new restaurants and dining opportunities continue to pop up all around us and we look forward to each new experience.
But we only care about one thing.
We don't care if it's $5 or $500. We don't care what the bathroom looks like, or even if there is one. We don't care if the server is knowledgeable or rude. We don't care about the decor, plates, or lack thereof. We only care about one thing.
When it hits your palate, does it blow your mouth up? Does it make your jaw drop until you realize that the food is spilling out? Does it make you close your eyes for a moment? When it does, you'll know. And all of the dishes on this blog will make you drool.
Welcome to Drooldish!

Spicy Yellowtail Roll | South Texas Sushi

GREAT sushi!  Our favorite dish at South Texas Sushi was the Spicy Yellowtail Roll – it was killer!  Fish was super fresh and the snap from the tobiko provided a lingering pop to balance out the ground fish on the inside of the roll.  The spice rub on the yellowtail was perfect and really brought out the flavor of the fish.   The serrano gave a fresh heat, but the cucumber gave the whole bite a freshness and a sensation that actually makes you stand up and recognize the heat from the Serrano.  The balance of heat, cool, and fresh was perfect!

A few things to know before you head that direction… the establishment is BYOB, so stop and grab a six pack of Asahi to accompany your meal.  They will bring you a nice bucket of ice and get your beer all snuggled in for you for about $3 – really nice service and you get the beverage of your choice for your meal!

Also, as of our visit, they have $2 off special rolls on Tuesdays!

Go check them out on Facebook, give them a like, and visit the restaurant - it will be worth your time.  Enjoy, and let us know what you think!

Chicken Panang Red Curry | Drunkn'Noodlez Asian Restaurant

While enjoying one of our favorite restaurants in the Coastal Bend, Rock and Rolls Sushi, we had the opportunity to speak with the chef and owner, David Lee.  The guy LOVES to talk food and shared with us that we had to go check out Drunkn’Noodlez.  He explained that “Mama K” would hook us up with something spicy hot and delicious.  Well, you can’t get a more solid referral than from a chef, right?

There are heat options when selecting your food and we went with “native” for our Chicken Panang Red Curry.  HOT! Not enough to kill the flavor, but enough to give you hiccups and a drippy nose. The coconut conveys in each bite and the spices combine to give the dish a depth and richness you don't often find. If you're accustomed to soft veggies, open your mind - veggies are cooked al dente. Fresh flavors and a delight to the senses.  But really, the sauce is what makes this dish epic!  This might be the only place in town actually using kafiri lime leaves and true galanga root.  You just don’t get more authentic than that!

While we would love to keep the blog about the dish (because really, the dish was amazing!), we were surprised by what we found when we stumbled inside the restaurant.  The ambiance was not what you expect – it had a more upscale feel than the kitschy font and name would lead you to believe.  If you haven’t already enjoyed the cuisine at Drunkn’Noodlez, head on over and prepare yourself for some authentic Thai dishes that are certain to make you drool!
