Hello Droolers!

Do you love food?  So do we!  And we enjoy exploring all of the cuisine available in and around the Coastal Bend.  It seems new restaurants and dining opportunities continue to pop up all around us and we look forward to each new experience.
But we only care about one thing.
We don't care if it's $5 or $500. We don't care what the bathroom looks like, or even if there is one. We don't care if the server is knowledgeable or rude. We don't care about the decor, plates, or lack thereof. We only care about one thing.
When it hits your palate, does it blow your mouth up? Does it make your jaw drop until you realize that the food is spilling out? Does it make you close your eyes for a moment? When it does, you'll know. And all of the dishes on this blog will make you drool.
Welcome to Drooldish!

This is one of those drool worthy dishes that we love to crave!

PERUVIAN POKE
Sashimi sliced fresh yellow fin tuna served over white rice drizzled with hot sesame oil, leche de tigre soy sauce, mangoes, and avocados
$26

For those of you that have never had a Poke, it’s a raw fish salad. I would say the most common poke you’ll see is cubed Ahi Tuna tossed with soy, onion, sesame, and some sort of fresh pepper, and is often served with some variety of chips.

Geared to be the main course and not your typical Poke appetizer, the Peruvian Poke featured at Costa Sur is an amazing twist on your typical Poke. Made with amazingly fresh Yellow Fin Tuna, served over a ball of perfectly cooked rice, and styled and dressed to perfection, you can’t miss if you order this one!

Amazing! The tuna is perfect: firm, yet soft, and melts in your mouth. Mango, slightly unripe; rice perfectly cooked; sauce ties it all together.  The creamy avocado with firm mango creates a balance of textures and flavors and set off the lightly seated tuna to perfection.  Be sure to drag the pickled onions into each bite!  Flavor bomb!

For being in Corpus Christi, a coastal town, it was surprising to find that most of the seafood in the area is not great. Usually it’s fried, or covered in sauces till you can’t even taste the fish. This dish really lets the tuna speak while adding beautiful accent flavors to accentuate the fish not cover it up.

It seems like Costa Sur is growing in popularity and is rapidly evolving and expanding to keep up. We have found the consistency of the dish starting to roller coaster. Yet, even with that it always stays on the tracks, and is consistently good.

If you’re in Corpus Christi and looking for amazing and creative seafood, you must stop into Costa Sur, relax on the lounge, or belly up to the bar. Order yourself an amazing beer and get started in on the fresh fish!
